Time and Money, Visions. Time and Money.
Speaking of time (and money), there is less than 5 days to go before the M & M Engineering Tour of Belize and Between today and Friday over 50 foreign cyclists will be arriving. Some of them are coming as complete teams while some might be recruiting Belizean cyclists to complete their teams and still some will be coming as hired help to reinforce existing local teams. One such team will be the Santino's/AEG Toshiba Team made up of 6 well known local cyclists including defending Tour of Belize champ, Marlon Castillo and 4 riders from Team AEG TOSHIBA-JETNETWORK from Georgia, USA.
Complete teams made up of 9 foreign riders include:
Guatemalan National Team
Team Cafe Quetzal and
Sun Digital Photo
BENNY'S MEGABYTES is the only complete team made up of 9 local riders.
All the other teams are either mixed or consist of less than 9 riders. Each team must have at least 5 riders and no more than 9. While some teams may be content with their 6 or 7 riders they all face the possibility of losing a rider or two in the first and second stages. And to compete in the third stage, the Team Time Trial each team must have at least 5 riders. After stage 3 a team can be cut down to less than 5 riders but still able to go on. _________________ "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility"
Have you ever considered that your design could be used for more than a poster?
If I were you I'd be making T-shirts, caps and big sippers from my designs and selling them to all those cycling fans while they are out lining the roads or waiting at the finish line. You could do it for both events. Plus you have the Cross Country coming up. I have never seen anybody produce T-shirts, caps nor sippers as souvenirs for special events. Imagine selling those caps or sippers to cycling fans while they gather near the finish line for each stage in the HOT SUN!
That's a marvellous idea, Webmaster! I have designed t-shirts before, so it'd be fun to do something like that again.
9/2/2007 - Here's Marlon Castillo on stage at today's Tour Launch after just being presented with the Yellow Jersey.
more pics coming soon. _________________ "With Great Power, Comes Great Responsibility"

Thank you for the forum!!!
Hi Mike Fans,
I probably have some pics of Mike, the long hair dude riding with Bike America. Yeah, I met him yesterday at the Launch. He was riding beside me today in the peloton but we were going so fast (33 mph) that we couldn't really chit chat.
Today's stage was brutal! It started off at around 10:30-11:00 and the HEAT WAS ON! So too was the pace. Like I said at 33 mph. Then came the spills in the second half of the race followed by the mud and the rain. A lot of riders won't be starting tomorrow. I think Bike America was one of the hard hit teams but I'm not sure how Mike faired off. The spills splintered the peloton and most teams. Most of the foreign riders suffered greatly today. I'll have some video highlights for you later tonight or tomorrow morning.

I talked to Mike and he did get caught up in the crash. Was avoiding it and got hit from behind. He will start tomorrow and hopefully his bike will be in good shape.
Thanks for the coverage -- can't wait to see some pics or videos! Let's hope for an exciting race day without mishaps!
Belize's fast man, young Greg Lovell of Team Santinos/AEG Toshiba is just too fast for his 5 breakaway companions as he sprints to the finish to take the sage win, the White Jersey (Best Under 23 Rider) AND the Yellow Jersey (Overall Race Leader).

Here is another video highlight from stage 1 featuring the first breakaway attempt by a couple Central American riders and the rest of peloton as they roll on through the cane fields of Orange Walk and Corozal.
And this other clip features Holy Saturday Cross Country Champ, Shane Vasquez along with former mountain bike star, Denny Molina who are the first riders to reach the Northern Border where they have to make a couple sharp turns through loose gravel before heading back to Orange Walk Town. A small chase group and the main peloton of riders follow not too far behind.

Great video -- we saw a glimpse of Mike! Hope the first 6AM stage went well -- will look forward to hearing and "seeing" it. "Fans of Mike Starr" say THANK YOU for keeping us in the loop!

Triathlon’s premier cycling powerhouse, Bjorn Anderson of Sweden dominates stage 2 of the 2007 Tour of Belize by first jumping out of the main peloton with less than 20 miles to go to bridge a 3.5 minute gap set by a a breakaway group of 8 riders. With about 10 miles to go he drops the entire group of 8 for a solo finish more than 2 minutes ahead of them with the peloton finishing more than 4 minutes later.
